The city of Tipperary in Ireland has created a program to revitalise the town with the help of The Walls Project. This year, five murals are to be painted around the city centre, each of them highlighting a topic of the local culture and traditions. Zabou was invited to take part in the project and create a mural on the Youth Work Ireland Tipperary building, where the children and young people attending its activities have chosen the theme and colours. Churn rolling is a tradition dating back from the 1960s when workers at Tipperary Co-op conceived the idea: they tilted the churns at an angle so that just the edge of the base was in contact with the ground, and then ran with the revolving churn along a 100-metre course. The model, 14 year-old Daisy, accepted to pose for the giant artwork, which shows two young people running with the churns.

Cette année, cinq fresques seront peintes, chacune d’elles sur un thème lié à la culture et aux traditions locales. Zabou fut invitée à participer en créant une fresque sur le bâtiment de Youth Work Ireland Tipperary, où les enfants et adolescents du centre ont choisi le thème et les couleurs du projet. ‘Churn rolling‘ (en français ‘roulement de baratte’) est une tradition remontant aux années 1960, lorsque les ouvriers de l’usine du coin en eurent l’idée. Ils penchèrent les barattes à lait pour que seule la tranche du bas soit en contact avec le sol, puis coururent en les faisant rouler sur une distance de 100 mètres. La modèle, Daisy qui a 14 ans, accepta de poser pour l’oeuvre géante qui montre deux adolescents en train de courir avec les barattes.
