The Skills Share Mural Project, created by Spark and Culture Chelmsford, and organised as part of Concrete Canvas, was designed to support emerging local artists interested in large-scale public art. Zabou was selected as lead artist for this collaborative initiative alongside three emerging creatives: Hayley Wells, Zen and Steve Lawes. Together they designed and painted a mural wrapping around an entire building in Chelmsford city centre, on King’s Head Walk.

Centered around the theme of magic, the mural blended individual sections with collaborative elements. Zabou painted the portrait of a witch (model: Hannah) brewing a mysterious potion in her cauldron, with added parts (stars, newt, bat, celtic patterns) from all artists. Hayley created a vibrant illustration of a toad in the river, Steve painted an intricate design of medieval-inspired beasts and Celtic motifs, while Zen made a raven flying at night using his stencil-based technique. The mural celebrates imagination, experimentation and the creative exchange between artists at different stages of their practice.

Zabou a été sélectionnée comme artiste principale de cette initiative aux côtés de trois artistes émergents : Hayley Wells, Zen et Steve Lawes. Ensemble, ils ont conçu et réalisé une fresque recouvrant tout un bâtiment dans le centre-ville de Chelmsford, sur King’s Head Walk.

Autour du thème de la magie, la fresque mêle sections individuelles et éléments collaboratifs. Zabou a peint le portrait d’une sorcière (modèle : Hannah) préparant une mystérieuse potion dans son chaudron, auquel tous les artistes ont ajouté leur grain de sel (étoiles, triton, chauve-souris, motifs celtiques). Hayley a créé une illustration colorée d’un crapaud au milieu de la rivière, Steve a réalisé une composition complexe inspirée des bestiaires médiévaux et de motifs celtiques, tandis que Zen a peint un corbeau volant de nuit à l’aide de sa technique au pochoir. La fresque célèbre l’imagination, l’expérimentation et les échanges créatifs entre des artistes à différentes étapes de leur parcours.
