Between April to July, the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands will transform its largest room into a lively, experimental space where interaction and participation are central. “The Wall is Yours: graffiti & street art takeover” brings together twelve artists selected by the Leeuwarden street art organisation Writer’s Block. Just like graffiti in public spaces, the walls will continually change, and visitors are also encouraged to participate.
Zabou was invited to take part in the event and created a framed fictitious historical painting. The artwork features the portrait of a man (model: Cédric) holding and staring at his smartphone with a detached, uninterested expression. In the background, a village engulfed in flames can be seen, inspired by a 16th-century Dutch painting. The piece serves as a metaphor for the current state of the world.

D’Avril à Juillet, le Fries Museum à Leeuwarden aux Pays-Bas, transforme sa plus grande salle en un espace vivant et expérimental où l’interaction et la participation occupent une place centrale. L’exposition « The Wall is Yours: graffiti & street art takeover » réunit douze artistes sélectionnés par l’organisation de street art Writer’s Block. À l’image du graffiti dans l’espace public, les murs évoluent en permanence et les visiteurs sont également invités à participer.
Zabou a été invitée à prendre part à l’événement et y a créé un tableau historique fictif présenté dans un cadre. L’œuvre représente le portrait d’un homme (modèle : Cédric) tenant son smartphone et le regardant avec une expression détachée et désintéressée. À l’arrière-plan, on aperçoit un village ravagé par les flammes, inspiré d’une peinture hollandaise du XVIe siècle. L’œuvre se veut une métaphore de l’état actuel du monde.
