After their first collaboration in November last year, JimmyC and Zabou are back for a new mural: this time in the district of Poplar, in East London. The artwork features the portraits of Queenie Watts and Francis Bacon, with a colourful background inspired by one of the painter’s works. Queenie, who was painted by Zabou, was a local singer and actress in the 1960s and 1970s. She ran two pubs in the area, The Ironbridge Tavern and the Rose And Crown, which were frequented by Francis Bacon and his biographer. The mural was organised by Fitzrovia Noir and is part of the Greater London Authority‘s ‘Untold Stories’ programme.

Après leur première collaboration en Novembre l’année dernière, JimmyC et Zabou sont de retour pour une nouvelle fresque ensemble: cette fois-ci, dans le quartier de Poplar dans l’Est de Londres. L’oeuvre représente les portraits de Queenie Watts et Francis Bacon, avec un fond inspiré par une des peintures de Bacon. Queenie, dont le portrait a été réalisé par Zabou, était une chanteuse et actrice du quartier dans les années 1960 et 1970. Elle tenait deux pubs locaux, The Ironbridge Tavern et le Rose And Crown ; des établissements fréquentés par Francis Bacon et son biographe. La fresque a été organisée par l’association Fitzrovia Noir et financée par le Greater London Authority.
