My trip to Cyprus started with a stop in Athienou, a small town between Nicosia and Larnaca. My friend Chrys, who lives there, asked me if I could paint the town’s first mural and I said yes!
The piece I painted is a poetic image which plays with the wall. Two hands are opening a large zip, revealing a sky beneath. It’s entitled ‘Beyond The Concrete’ – we are surrounded by sad concrete buildings, street art may be a way to bring them to life. A local also told me that it’s a strong message as Athienou is located in between the Turkish and Greek areas, the zip could be a sign of peace and unification.

I then went to Limassol for the 10th edition of the Street Life Festival. I first painted the mural below which is dedicated to wildlife protection. Wildlife on the island has been drastically reduced due to fast urbanisation and tourism (now less than 20% of its original habitat). The mural features local model Olga surrounded by local plant and animal species.

Next was a collaboration with the great Kiwie, a graffiti artist from Latvia known for his iconic crazy monsters. Together we painted this street art version of the Little Red Riding Hood entitled “Once Upon A Time”. The girl is actually threatening the wolf with a knife to steal his spray cans. Modern fairy tale…
